Town Hall in Hasselt
2018

Development and completion of a multifunctional office building for the municipal services and the OCMW in Hasselt. The total area above ground is 17,000 m2, of which 14,800 m2 is new build. The project also includes renovation and restoration work on the adjacent old gendarmerie building.

Collaboration between difference services

Hasselt is building a new town hall. In 2018, many municipal services and the OCMW social services organisation are moving to the site of the Oude Rijkswachtkazerne on Guffenslaan. The historic building is undergoing a radical refurbishment, and a modern, energy-efficient building is being constructed behind the barracks.

Stately architecture

The town hall has a dynamic structure, providing an interesting approach view. The ground floor, which is accessible to the public, is also distinguished by a facade with wooden beams. Walking down Sint-Jozefstraat, you get the impression that the facade is completely made of wood, perpendicular to the facade. From Capucienenstraat, the facade gives a sense of transparency.

Innovative solutions

Commissioned by HVAC specialist Van Den Briele nv, our Priva partner Palmers Building Control Systems will install various solutions. Thanks to the solar controllers, the climate in each room can be (remotely) personalised. Furthermore, TC History will ensure that all the building data is stored in an accessible way. Besides the innovative design, the new Town Hall will be fully automated.
