Accelerating Green Digitization of Greenhouse Horticulture

Horticulture
21 July 2022
Digitization can no longer be denied, even in Dutch greenhouse horticulture. The size of greenhouse horticulture companies and the scope of internationalization are increasing, while growers’ “green thumbs” are getting increasingly scarce.

In the “Accelerating Green Digitization of Greenhouse Horticulture” project, greenhouse horticulture companies are experiencing what green digitization is, what this can mean for business, and how to integrate it into their operations. Priva is a partner in this project, along with Zentoo, Delphy Improvement Centre, Delphy, Glastuinbouw Nederland, Inholland University of Applied Sciences, and Greenport West-Holland.

Demonstration & Awareness

The “Accelerating Green Digitization of Greenhouse Horticulture” project is made up of several components. One of these is Demonstration & Awareness. As an example of this: digital innovations are demonstrated in a partially hands-on environment (the Delphy Improvement Centre) and training sessions are organized for groups of entrepreneurs, cultivation managers, and students. In addition, there is an independent website with news, projects and a “display window.”

Digital innovation display window

The display window on the website will feature a selection of green digitization providers. The goal is to familiarize growers with suppliers as well as with the digital innovations that are available. Suppliers with products or services in the field of green digitization can sign up for this display window. A selection will be made from the applicants. This selection will be visible on the new website in a few weeks.

About the project

The project “Accelerating Green Digitization of Greenhouse Horticulture” is made possible in part by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union, by Kansen voor West (Opportunities for the Western Netherlands) and by a contribution from the province of South Holland, and is partly funded by the EU’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kansen voor West is a European economic stimulus program for promoting competitiveness in the west of the Netherlands. It is the program for and by the four Randstad provinces (North and South Holland, Utrecht and Flevoland) and the four largest cities (Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht).
